Goal

My goal is hands on teaching with verbal and nonverbal students at a young age. I plan on using dramatic play items and props as a voice to learn, teach and explain to peers.

What will be done with my students

The dramatic play table will be used with dinosaurs to create a story by making sounds in the dyno adventure they create with the dinosaurs.
The next items are story telling puppets that will give my students a voice when recapping the story that has just been read to the them. Then they can create a new story themselves by using the puppets and the following books: “The Three Little Pigs”, “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”, “The Three Bears”, and “Little Red Riding Hood”. When working with young learners with special needs puppets can be a voice for them and self-expression.
The Last items are Magnetic Storytelling Kits. These are little magnets of the characters in the story with a book that comes with it.

Benefits to my students

The objective for wanting these dramatic play items is the following: shows increased eagerness and curiosity as a learner, spends more time engaging in child-initiated activities and seeks and accepts help when encountering a problem, explores the environment with purpose and flexibility and approaches daily activities with creativity. I plan on using a rubric to demonstrate what they have learned by the standards based on developmental age and ability of skills/standards in the objectives.
Each week I plan to do one literature story twice and on the other three days watch them engage and interact with the characters, teach friends and engage by peer modeling, I have currently 6 students and full-time para- professional that will assist me. These items will be used for many years averaging 6 kids most years.

Budget Narrative

The classroom teacher will be responsible for this project in her classroom weekly.
My projected outcomes will be 2 adults and 6 students engaging and using dramatic play items as a voice and modeling for their peers. My supplies for this project from Lakeshore will be $919.92 . I plan to purchase 11 items from Lakeshore.
