Goal

Creating a passion for learning for all the students. To instill confidence to the struggling students by having success in an outdoor environment with hands on learning. To appreciate where food comes from and experience the process from beginning to end, with the preparation of the soil, planting, caring for and celebrating the success of the harvest. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will study the parts of a plant, the life cycle of plants. The Different seed types, and caring for the plants. Exploring the senses of smell, taste and see. Students will
Measure the proper placement for each plant.
Securing all the supplies by November 1.
Assembling the raised bed by November 1.
Plant the strawberry plants by November 8
Plant broccoli, cabbage, carrots and lettuce by Nov 15
Install fencing around garden by November 22.
Problem solving skills to be used on how to keep critters out of the garden and proper watering amounts of the garden.

Harvest will begin in late January and conclude the first of April.
 

 

Benefits to my students

Improved academic success in all areas subjects.
Confidence levels will increase by learning and students being self fulfilled.
Students will experience how nutritious food is grown.
Problem solving the many obstacles that will arise in our garden.
Students will work together on one common goal. The growing and harvesting the fruit and vegetables.
Three classrooms can benefit from this gardening experience.

The total expense for Blossom in Garden Greatness will be $700. This includes 6 months of many hands on experiences for 50 students or 3 classrooms.
