Walton Education Foundation

My goal in writing this grant is to enable my students to take an active role in their education by providing opportunities for them to learn through interactive stories, games and puzzles in digital format. I can assign differentiated lessons and activities for my students based on their needs using data from standardized tests. My students are always eager to use devices and I plan to capitalize on that interest to challenge, remediate and build background knowledge using a variety of fiction and non-fiction sources in an effort to increase their educational success and love of learning.

Goal

My goal in writing this grant is to enable my students to take an active role in their education by providing opportunities for them to learn through interactive stories, games and puzzles in digital format. I can assign differentiated lessons and activities for my students based on their needs using data from standardized tests. My students are always eager to use devices and I plan to capitalize on that interest to challenge, remediate and build background knowledge using a variety of fiction and non-fiction sources in an effort to increase their educational success and love of learning.

What will be done with my students

Initially, I will assign lessons to my students using STAR reading scores as a starting point. As I monitor their progress with the lessons assigned, I can adjust the level of difficulty and type of lessons to continue to challenge or support their learning needs. Using subsequent STAR data throughout the year, I can track student progress and changing educational needs. Programs students will use include Flocabulary, Edgenuity Reading, EPIC, Brain Pop, Renaissance Place, and Khan Academy, as well as lessons that can be assigned using our ReadyGen, McGraw Hill, and Pearson Elevate Science curriculum.

Benefits to my students

My students will benefit from having additional devices in my classroom by allowing them to learn at their individual levels. This will create a sense of accomplishment which, in turn, will elevate their self-esteem and confidence in themselves. This "I can!" attitude will encourage them to seek out new learning experiences and create life-long learners who are curious about the world around them.
