What will be done with my students

To effectively replace broken computers and better support intensive reading 7th-grade students in the classroom. The Walton County School District's Intensive Reading and Language Arts initiative includes using the Power Up and Study Sync McGraw computer-based programs to address any gaps in students' reading history and to help them learn 7th-grade Florida standards and use computers. Currently, we have computers that are broken, and in several of our classes, we do not have enough computers for all the students assigned to us. This is doing a disservice to our students and their ability to stay on grade level and complete work assigned through the computer program, so student laptops are needed immediately.

Benefits to my students

Providing new laptops to students ensures equitable access to modern technology and digital resources, enabling all students to engage fully in class activities and assignments. This will narrow the digital divide, ensuring that every student has the tools needed to succeed academically. Furthermore, access to laptops facilitates personalized learning experiences and allows for differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs. Students can advance at their own pace, leading to improved academic outcomes and higher achievement levels.

Budget Narrative

By acquiring the Dynabook computers, we could add three computers to each of our classrooms, allowing us to have one computer for every student in every class we teach. Furthermore, the laptop cart would be used in the Intensive Reading classroom because the current one is broken and does not regulate the computers' charging, which strains the computers' batteries.
