Goal

This project will ensure that all Pre-K students build strong early literacy and language skills that prepare them for kindergarten readiness and long-term academic success.

Category

School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.

What will be done with my students

1. Daily Literacy instruction
Students will participate in structured, age -appropriate literacy lessons focusing on letter recognition, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and storytelling.

2. Hands-on Literacy Centers

Students will rotate through centers (e.g.., alphabet games, letter tracing, listening stations) to reinforce early reading skills through play-based learning.

3. Family Engagement
Families will receive take-home literacy kits and participate in workshops to extend learning beyond the classroom.

4. Individualized support

Teachers will assess each child's literacy development and provide small-group or one-on- one interventions as needed.

5. Language - Rich Environment

Classrooms will be equipped with diverse books, labels, and visual aides to immerse students in print and language.

Benefits to my students

Students will enter kindergarten with stronger letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary, giving them a head start in reading and learning.

Closing achieving gaps

Early intervention helps reduce literacy gaps for children from undeserved or at-risk communities before they widen in later grades.

Budget Narrative

The literacy supplies funded through this grant will directly support the project goal of improving student's reading comprehension, fluency, and overall engagement with literacy. Access to high quality, age-appropriate books will expose students to diverse texts that build vocabulary, background knowledge, and a love of reading. Instructional materials, such as phonics kits and vocabulary resources, will strengthen foundational skills for early readers and provide intervention support for struggling learners. Journals and writing supplies will promote consistency practice with written expression, reinforcing comprehension through reflective writing.

By ensuring that every student has access to the tools needed for daily reading and writing, these supplies remove barriers caused by limited resources at home and create equitable opportunities for learning. They also allow educators to differentiate instruction more effectively, tailoring resources to individual student needs. Overall, the literacy supplies will create engaging, well-equipped learning environments that empower students to meet and exceed literacy benchmarks, directly advancing the project's goal of academic achievement and long-term success.
