Original Grant Overview

Goal

I am requesting funding for a new carpet in my classroom. Our current carpet is worn and frayed and no longer provides a safe or comfortable space for students to gather. A new carpet will create a welcoming environment that supports learning, collaboration and classroom community.

What will be done with my students

Many young students learn best while seated on the floor. A new carpet ensures they have a safe, soft and inviting place to sit, reducing distractions and discomfort. A carpet fosters a sense of belonging by giving students a shared area where they can sit together, participate in circle time, and collaborate on activities. A classroom carpet gives students a consistent, calm space to gather, which promotes routine, security and positive peer interactions.

Benefits to my students

A clean, comfortable carpet provides a designated gathering space for lessons, read aloud, UFLI lessons, and group discussions. This helps students stay engaged, focused and organized. A new carpet is more than just a classroom furniture-it is a tool for building community, enhancing learning, and creating a safe and welcoming environment. This investment will directly support students' academic growth and social -emotional development for years to come.
