Goal

My goal is to replace classic books whose covers are out of date and being overlooked, with their modern counterparts.

What will be done with my students

They say "don't judge a book by its cover," but guess what? That's precisely what kids do. They see out of date, irrelevant looking books and pass them by for the shinier model. It doesn't matter that it's a beloved classic. It doesn't matter that it was "our favorite book when we were kids!" Publishers are reprinting those classics with modern covers and getting kids interested in reading "our" favorite childhood stories. I will provide my students with books they will actually want to read. These books will remain a part of our library for years to come.

Benefits to my students

I expect my students to check out books more often and increase library circulations. The effect of them reading increases their confidence, helps with our district's Read to Feed AR program, and brings the joy of classics to the next generation.

Budget Narrative

These are books our district already owns, but with updated covers.
