What will be done with my students

If our school receives this grant- students will be able to participate in "golf stations" in Physical Education! By participating in golf station activities- students will be able to have a variety of skill development within independent and group practice times. Students will be able to rotate and practice at different stations. Students will learn how to hold a golf putter and learn how to maneuver distance control to make the putt.
Also-students will be able to challenge themselves and compete to improve their overall score in putting.

Benefits to my students

Our students would absolutely love to receive this grant!! Currently- we do not have any Golf equipment in our Physical Education program. This would be a great opportunity for our students to learn basic golf skills-such as hand-eye coordination in holding the putter club, learning gauge depth perception and distance control to make the putt! In having a 13 station putting green- students will also be able to design their own mini-golf course!
Learning basic golf skills will encourage learning and playing by the rules, taking turns and good sportsmanship! By understanding and following the mini golf station rules- it will help students follow the sequencing and order of events. Math skills are reinforced with number identification and number order, counting strokes, and keeping track of the score! Students will also be able to work on their problem-solving and decision-making skills. Also- Golf is a life-long sport and can be played throughout a student's lifetime. Lastly- students will have so much fun experiencing how to putt and developing skills needed to learn the game of Golf!
All putting skill activities could be done indoors or outside on the basketball court, sidewalk or any of our general playground areas!
Florida Physical Education Standard:
PE.5.R.6.3- Explain ways to celebrate one's own physical accomplishments while displaying sportsmanship.
PE.4.C.2.2- Understand the importance of safety rules and procedures in all activities.
