Extended Transition - Grant to renew my annual single user license for the Unique Learning System Transition Grade Band learning platform.

Paul B. Stephens

I teach an Extended Transition class at Paul B. Stephens School in Clearwater, Florida, which is part of the Pinellas County School System.
I hope to use this grant to renew my single user license for the N2Y Unique Learning System Transition Grade Band learning platform.
The Unique Learning System (ULS) Transition format is designed specifically for students with varied learning needs and cognitive levels. It combines differentiated, standards based content and assessment tools, with interactive lessons, real world scenarios, and hands on activities delivered using Smart Board technology. These features promote student engagement and participation. I hope to use this technology, supplemented with teacher created lessons and activities to prepare my students for independent living and success in the work place.

Anatomy of the Eye

Seminole Elementary School

The goal is to use hands-on learning to teach the anatomy of the eye. I teach students with visual impairments about their eye condition. I currently use pictures on computers to teach the different parts of the eye and to help students understand which part of their eye is affected. A model of the eye that the student can take apart and manipulate will provide a better understanding of the eye, especially for our totally blind students.

We have a wonderful outdoor space, however it does not have any garden or inspiring scenery, just brick walls. My goal would be to create a beautiful green and inspiring space where students feel excited to create. Pencils and paper are excellent tools for teaching students certain skills, but they don't necessarily provide them with all the qualities they need. For example, it can be tougher to develop high levels of creativity or problem-solving skills when you're learning with just ink on a page. Since I am an art teacher, I would love to be able to provide my students as many opportunities as possible to tap into their creative potential.

Sembler (Schoolwide PBIS Incentives)

Fairmount Park Elementary School

Our goal at Fairmount Park is to provide positive incentives rewarding scholars for academic and behavioral successes by following our schoolwide SOAR guidelines. In addition, we hope to improve the positive culture and climate of the school by providing incentives for staff as well. We're not just a school in the neighborhood, we are a neighborhood school,
What will be done with Students:
Student will be provided with the opportunity to earn incentives rewarding positive behavior and academic improvements.
As a school we hope to have the ability to provide scholars with uniforms, shoes, and other hygiene products in hopes to remove barriers to scholars attending school.

Sensory Materials

Belcher Elementary School

I am seeking financial support to buy sensory stimulating materials for my classroom. These materials will be primarily for my ESE students, but I believe that my Gen-Ed students would benefit tremendously as well. These materials will give them the sensory input they are seeking, as well as help develop their fine and gross motor skills. Some examples include materials for the sensory table, soothing toys with different textures for the calm down corner, active play items, and various materials to support our developmental and educational goals.

My goal is to obtain funding that could be put directly towards creating a safe space for scholars to receive mental health support, participate in counseling groups addressing grief, trauma, foster care, anger management, social skills and more.
With an increase in mental health concern across the world today, creating this safe space to promote this support in a healthy and inviting way will allow for scholars to receive these resources while shifting the stigma around accessing mental health resources.
