Goal

The goal is to give students the opportunity to learn in a sensory-safe and flexible environment. To maintain student concentration and focus.


 

 

What will be done with my students

Flexible seating options and sensory sensitive items can greatly benefit fourth-grade students. By providing different seating zones, you allow them to communicate and collaborate in a more creative and comfortable environment. This can enhance their learning experience and promote a sense of community among the students. Additionally, incorporating fidgets can help students with movement and self-calming skills, allowing them to better focus and engage in their lessons.

Benefits to my students

Creating a comfortable and engaging learning environment is key to promoting students' well-being and meeting their learning needs. Students' attention and engagement can be greatly influenced by how they feel about their surroundings. Providing flexible seating options, recognizes that not all students are comfortable sitting for long periods of time. This can help accommodate their individual needs and support their focus and participation in class.

Moreover, an emphasis can be on problem-solving and embracing failure in a non-threatening environment. By creating a safe and supportive atmosphere, students will feel more encouraged to take risks, think critically, and learn from their mistakes. This can foster a growth mindset and enhance their overall academic and personal development.

 

 

Describe the Students

A variety of student needs will be met. Two students with autism. Two students with learning exceptionalities. Four students with 504 plans for attention deficits. The remaining students are general education students who will equally benefit from flexibility in their day.

By considering the specific needs of each student, I am ensuring that my learning environment is inclusive and supportive. Meeting the needs of students with autism, learning exceptionalities, and attention deficits is crucial for their academic success and overall well-being.

For students with autism, providing sensory-friendly elements can help create a more comfortable environment. Students with learning exceptionalities may benefit from differentiated instruction and personalized learning strategies. This can involve providing additional resources, accommodations, or modifications to meet their individual learning styles and abilities. For students with attention deficits, implementing strategies such as frequent breaks, movement opportunities, or alternative seating options can help them stay engaged and focused.
Even for general education students, the flexibility and individualized approach I am incorporating will benefit them as well. Students have diverse learning styles, strengths, and preferences, so offering a variety of options and allowing for flexibility in their learning can enhance their engagement and understanding.

Overall, by considering and addressing the unique needs of each student, I am creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that will benefit all students.
