Our goal is to continue to explain and demonstrate to students that there are many opportunities to become a successful member of society and financially stable. Many of our students are not aware of the basics pertaining to financial system. Students are not aware of their own job market worth, their financial responsibility before and after their career, and the financial successes they can achieve just by having a plan. Our overall goal is to give students relevant hands on experience in personal finance and financial literacy.

Goal

Our goal is to continue to explain and demonstrate to students that there are many opportunities to become a successful member of society and financially stable. Many of our students are not aware of the basics pertaining to financial system. Students are not aware of their own job market worth, their financial responsibility before and after their career, and the financial successes they can achieve just by having a plan. Our overall goal is to give students relevant hands on experience in personal finance and financial literacy.

What will be done with my students

Students will use industry relevant tools, accurate job market examinations, and industry accurate equipment to gain an understanding of what opportunities are available to them after high school. Many of our students, and students in general, are not aware of their options. Some fall into financial setbacks chasing degree opportunities.

Our Students will use interactive workstations, specialized lesson plans and projects, industry appropriate equipment, and techniques to ultimately have a path to future employment, financial stability and overall success.

Benefits to my students

Our students are in need of awareness and clarity. Many of them are stuck in a cycle that could result in an unsuccessful outcome. The overall benefit would be that our students are better prepared for the job market and more aware of opportunities for gainful employment and financial security. Many of our students see the traditional college path as an unobtainable goal, by sharing information about options and opportunities, our students knowledge and ultimately their opportunities for success will grow.

Describe the Students

More than 80% of our students are on Free or Reduced Lunch and are in a lower socio-economic status. The highest population consists of African American Males. Our ESE population is higher than most schools with the same number of students. Most of our students are low performers statistically, but after relationship building, many of them seem to be uninformed and unmotivated. Our student population is a mix of students from schools across the district. Students are placed here after a zero tolerance offense. Students who do earn their way back to a traditional school setting, sometimes struggle and make their way back. The staff here at Pinellas Secondary School(PSEC) focuses on the four A's of success. We not only focus on our "Scholars" current and future education, but we hope to also impact their wellbeing as a future successful member of society.
