Goal

The goal of this grant is to provide character education books for our classroom library as well as providing a character education book for the monthly character winner in our classroom to take home.

What will be done with my students

Students will be able to read multiple titles that are tied to each character trait of the month in our classroom library. As a reward for demonstrating the character trait of the month, one student will be able to take a book home that is tied to the character trait for that month.

Benefits to my students

Students will become more aware of the character traits of respect, citizenship, tolerance, responsibility, charity, kindness and caring, cooperation, patriotism, self-control, honesty, and self-motivation. This will also provide an incentive for students to demonstrate these traits in hopes that they will be a character winner during the year.

Describe the Students

This would benefit all of the students in First Grade at Safety Harbor Elementary. There is a wide range of students, including ESE, ESOL and General Education students. Each class has a variety of high to low performing students and this grand would give each student a chance to read the book connected to each character trait.

Budget Narrative

The total above reflects the amount for one first grade classroom to receive all of the character book titles. There are 5 First Grade classrooms at our school, so the total for all 5 classes to receive the character book titles would be $955.55
