Our goal is to efficiently cultivate a critical and creative unique way to work cooperatively in a positive, polite, and effective manner. We hope to prepare students for their highest potential using thought provoking competition.
HOPS is an in house field trip that our 4th and 5th grade students will be able to participate in. They will engage in a highly structured, creative, and intellectually challenging competitive event. This event is extended to all 4th and 5th grade students, not just the gifted/talented.
The students are given an opportunity to focus on carefully reading directions and following the written and verbal directions to be able to precisely complete each given task. The tasks help build student performance, putting skills they have learned in the classroom into action, using creative team thinking and incorporating educational skills with real creative challenges. The HOPS program is also beneficial to students by helping them improve their decision making skills, be efficient information managers, and they are encouraged through a creative safe & non-threatening risk-taking exciting experience.
Our school is a underrepresented transformation zone school that aims to improve student success by reaching their highest level of achievement. Our demographic consists of 74% Black, 31% White, and 11% Hispanic. Our school is a low performance school while we strive to increase student performance for all students.
The cost to participate in HOPS cost $10 per student. We currently have 158 students in grades 4 & 5.
