To hire a costumer for our spring production of Legally Blonde
. I have started musical theater classes at Tarpon Springs High. This year, our plan is to do Legally Blonde the musical. Since this is the first-year musical theater is being offered, we don’t have someone to help with the technical side of theater as far as the costumes go. I would love to receive a grant so that I could hire a costumer to show the students basic sewing and costume construction. There are so many different areas that collaborate to bring a musical together. You have a lighting designer, sound designer, set designer, scene designer and costumer. Costuming is so important! So many students are into making their own fashions now, this is not just a skill for the theater but for real life.
I work with a lot of different theaters in the Tampabay area. I would like to show the students from beginning to end, how a production truly comes together. I believe your grant would help accomplish this.
I have 9 students that have a 504. I have 8 SE students. I have 1 ELL. A lot of students that might not shine or have the best grades in the regular classroom, really bloom in a performance classroom.
We would need a few sewing machines for the students to work on and fabric.
