Providing my students access to optional seating arrangements and seating types will help them to feel comfortable and confident in their environment. Flexible seating has also been proven to help increase student attention and engagement. When students are able to wiggle, wobble, bounce and move, their brains can stay focused on the hard tasks at hand.

Goal

My goal is to provide my students comfortable, smart seating. Providing my students access to optional seating arrangements and seating types will help them to feel comfortable and confident in their environment. Flexible seating has also been proven to help increase student attention and engagement. When students are able to wiggle, wobble, bounce and move, their brains can stay focused on the hard tasks at hand.

What will be done with my students

My students will be able to choose the most efficient seating type to assist them in their learning experience. Students will decide how they feel most comfortable, and how they can complete their best work. Each morning students will be able to decide if they want to remain in their normal classroom chair, or if they need a seating type which will require them to move in order to prevent them from falling asleep, or if they need to move in order to allow them to release some energy.

Benefits to my students

My students will benefit because they will feel comfortable and confident by being able to make a seating choice for themselves. Their minds will be more attentive, alert and focused on academic work because flexible seating helps brain and body blood flow.

Describe the Students

My classroom consists of a wide range of diverse learners including exceptional students (ESE), students who speak English as a second language (ELL), as well as students with gifted EPs.
