The goal of this project is to provide a more inclusive, multicultural approach to music education.
Students will be exposed to instruments, activities, and literature that is culturally relevant and diverse.
When children listen, dance, and sing to music from diverse cultures, they also gain knowledge about diversity, tolerance, and cultural understanding. Not only do children learn valuable lessons, multicultural music is fun and engaging.
The students at Pinellas Central Elementary School represent a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. We have students from over a dozen countries around the world. In addition to general education classrooms, we also have ESE students in gifted and IVE programs. Our school improvement plan includes strategies for culturally responsive instruction.
The instruments and resources purchased through grant funds will impact ALL students in our school in music classes and throughout the community with musical performances.
