Goal

We are seeking $1200.00 to assist with the purchase of an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil for use in our Musical and Performance Theatre program at Gibbs High School. These devices allow teachers to create annotated scripts, music, and blocking charts and distribute them digitally to students for rehearsal preparation and study.

What will be done with my students

Instructors will be able to create and instantly digitally share annotated scripts, providing notes for students about the text being studied, annotated sheet music, providing instructions and feedback on student musical performance, and annotated blocking charts providing students with assistance for staging and choreography to utilize in rehearsal. Students will be able to view these digital charts on the new devices provided through PCSB via our Covid relief funds and can assist when students are both present in class as well as if they need to be home.

Benefits to my students

Students will have access to class materials for study and preparation both at home and at school on their digital devices provided by PCSB. Traditionally, when we distribute these instructional materials by printing/paper, students must be present, and they must not lose their notes. By using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, we are able to create permanent digital files that students may interact with from anywhere--whether at home or on campus--and never lose or need an extra copy of again.

Describe the Students

The Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School serves students from all over Pinellas County--from Tarpon Springs to south St. Petersburg, and our students span a broad demographic of socio-economic statuses and academic achievement levels. According to current PCSB data, our population currently reflects many districtwide averages in terms of demographic data. At Gibbs High School, many of our students are in high-level, rigorous courses, such as AP and dual-enrollment programs via our partnership with SPC.

Budget Narrative

These two devices represent a one-time purchase that stand alone from other technology grants and should provide approximately 5-7 years of service to support the highest student achievement described in the above grant.
