Goal

The objectives of this grant for iPads is to engage all students in a craetive and collaborative environment by increasing student access with technology . I will be able to differentiate instruction based on Florida State Standards and Districtwide Standards in math, reading, and social emotional curriculum.

What will be done with my students

The iPads will be used to bridge the gap between our special education and with their general education peers. There are over 20,000 educational iPads apps, and an entire Special Education app section that will allow our non or low verbal students to communicate with their peers.
I will be able to provide differentiated instruction to each student based on personal levels and needs for each student. I will create one on one and small group instruction with lessons tailored to our standards and content knowledge, and scaffolding the content with apps that help the students learn and retain information.
Progress and levels can be constantly monitored to provide feedback and changes in individual lessons to benefit each student.

Benefits to my students

The benefits to our students are academic and functional, by allowing them to be included with their peers all all levels. Students with Speech and Language impairments will be able to use the iPads to be their voioce in both academic and social settings. This increases their knowledge and allows them to feel included in social situations, creating self worth and enagagement.
Many students will shut down if they feel that can not comprehend the content and/or not be able to express their knowledge. This gives them a way to "show what they know" across the curriculum.
It also decreases behaviors as it gives them a voice which decreases frustration of not being heard.

Describe the Students

Oldsmar is made up of low to median income families of multiple ethnicity, with 55% of our students participating in the free lunch program.
Our classes are a combination of special education and general education students. There is a minimum of 12 Special Education students with multiple disabilities, but all ESE students are included in the Speech and Language and Developmentally Delayed programs as well as other areas of delays.

Budget Narrative

iPads will be used for our Special Education students to bridge the gap in content knowledge based on Florida State Standards and Districtwide Standards as well as closing the gap with our ESE and General Education students
