Goal

We want to get kids excited about reading because reading not only helps kids to learn, but also empowers them in life.

What will be done with my students

Purchase books to do a library refresh and have the kids create opinion blurbs about the books to entice other students to read them. This will also support opinion writing for students because they are giving their opinion about the topic they have read in the book.

Benefits to my students

Provide high interest, engaging books that encourage and excite children to read. The more the students read, their vocabulary grows and they become more knowledgeable about topics. We will also be able to work on opinion writing by creating opinion driven blurbs about books using evidence from the book.

Describe the Students

Lake Saint George 's student population is comprised of genereal education and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). About 41% of the student population qualifies for free/reduced lunch.
