Goal

The goal of this grant is to seamlessly integrate technology access into my classroom by adding iPads.

What will be done with my students

Students will have lots of educational opportunities by using iPads in the classroom. I will be able to use online simulations of science labs where students can design an experiment and set the parameters. Our textbook is a virtual book, so students will have access to this through the iPads, including the videos and other media it contains. Additionally, I have Wonder Workshop Cue robots and Sphero robots that require iPads to run. I use the Spheros to help students learn to code while creating programs to test the relationship between distance, time, velocity, and acceleration. Currently, I have more robots than iPads, so having more iPads would allow more student groups to complete the lab simultaneously.

I also use applications like EdPuzzle, Gizmos, Kahoot, BrainPop, and Nearpod. These iPads would give students access to a full range of learning opportunities that are enhanced with technology.

Benefits to my students

Work can be differentiated for students by using iPads. Students can use the text reader and have the iPad read to them if that helps them comprehend the text. Students can view videos at their own pace and pause them as needed to make notes or rewatch sections they didn't understand.

Having more iPads would also decrease the number of students per group, facilitating social distancing, as well as better engagement.
