Goal

To help build readiness skills for life-long learning. The ipads and apps are engaging and provide immediate feedback on the skills the students are learning such as shapes, colors , fine motor, play, drawing, tracing, creating, counting, number and letter concepts and recognition, printing letters and early literacy.

What will be done with my students

The ipads will be used throughout the school year and for many years to come. Apps on the ipad can be integrated with the units of studies being taught. There are two apps that the students and I especially find motivating, ABC Mouse and Happy Numbers. We used these apps when school went virtual last March. New apps can be added at anytime. Many of the apps provide data to help me assess needs of each student.

Benefits to my students

The IPADS are an excellent tool because the children believe it is a game and they can do it themselves. The children think it is fun when they are playing. The benefits for our ESE students there is no judgement and the children feel included. Young children even those with disabilities can learn to use the ipads quite quickly. The students receive immediate feedback and have multiple opportunities to learn a skill. The ipads can reach students that are difficult to teach in traditional ways. It is a good motivator for these students because it is attention getting and multi-modal. The ipad can be customized to each student and used in a variety of settings such as therapy.

Describe the Students

My class is a blended 3-4-year-old PreK class. It contains Exceptional Education Students (ESE) and General Education Students. ESE students can be physically and/or language impaired, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and developmentally delayed. The blended model allows for role models to help with critical thinking of all the students.

Budget Narrative

It would be beneficial to have a class set. The cases are needed for protection of the ipad. The apps can help the children learn readiness skills.
