Goal

I really want to make theater come alive for these kiddos. I want to teach them not only the theatrical side of theater but also the technical side. My kids have so much creativity and my goal is to help them find themselves through drama.

What will be done with my students

I want to invest in technical theater software. Including editing suites, Ipads to record and edit on, and sound mixing software.

I also want to teach these kids to create props and costumes from found and recycled items. This involves materials that they may not have had the opportunity to work with including silicon, alginate for mold making , plaster, wiring, spray foam, and a multitude of different mediums.

Benefits to my students

My students work so hard all day long and theater is a place for them to go and be whoever they want to do. I want to nurture those creative juices that they often times don't get to flow. It would shock you to know how many students don't know how to use a hammer, a screwdriver, and how to take nothing and turn it into something. Electives are the reason many of these kids even come to school and I want to make it a class that will encourage their life skills as well as educational advantages. I want to show them how easy it can be to record and edit movies and performances, add sound effects, loop background music, etc. These are all skills that can be easily transformed into a career.

Describe the Students

My students are a mix of everything. Some are low some are high. They are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, some are ESE, ESOL, or just your average everyday kid. What they all are is amazing!

Budget Narrative

Ipads are for editing and looping sound. I already have the software I just need the hardware. All the other materials are for creating props and costumes from recycled materials. I have many materials that need other things to be useful and these are the things I need.
