Goal

To support the literacy of our student population by offering relevant, engaging texts through the Media Center.

What will be done with my students

I will purchase books, both fiction and nonfiction, to support the interests of my students and to help inspire their natural curiosity.

Benefits to my students

Students who read both for school and for pleasure have higher literacy gains. We need more reading options to support and extend classroom learning. Also, being able to offer a wide variety of options for students is important to encourage students to read outside of class.

Describe the Students

56% of our students are eligible for free/reduced lunch, 43% of our population are minorities, 54% of our students are ESE. We also have a strong AP program and some very high performers.

Budget Narrative

I will use the donated money to purchase current and popular fiction from Follett. I will use the other half of the donated money to purchase engaging nonfiction texts from Abdo.
