Overall student success will increase (students will show learning gains) over the school year while campus/classroom disruptions decreases. This will be achieved through the ability to offer Positive Events that students want to attend. Students must earn their way into the events by following all school expectations both on campus, the bus and field trips. These events are held quarterly to reward students for outstanding behavior and character which directly impacts their learning and the learning environment of everyone in the student body.

Goal

Overall student success will increase (students will show learning gains) over the school year while campus/classroom disruptions decreases. This will be achieved through the ability to offer Positive Events that students want to attend. Students must earn their way into the events by following all school expectations both on campus, the bus and field trips. These events are held quarterly to reward students for outstanding behavior and character which directly impacts their learning and the learning environment of everyone in the student body.

What will be done with my students

With this grant we will be able to purchase a variety of games for the kids to play during their events as well as Purchase a mat that covers the gym floor so that we can use the gym for all of our PBIS events. Due to the necessity of protecting the gym floor many of our events have to be held outside which for many kids is not a reward. It is important that the PBIS events are something the kids want to attend (in the A/C) as a way to motivate them to follow all school expectations and increase the success of the learning environment of our school.

Benefits to my students

This would benefit all the students in the school because it would allow us to have PBIS events the kids would enjoy and help encourage our Positive Behavior Expectations throughout the school. When behavior issues decrees class room distractions do as well. This makes it possible for students to achieve learning gains and advance their education significantly.
This money would give us the funds needed to have fun activities for the kids to play as a reward for not having any behavior issues during each grading quarter. It would also allow our positive events (PBIS events) to be held in the gym rather than outside. Currently we hold most of the events outside so that we do not damage the hardwood floor of the gym.
The ability to purchase this mat would also benefit our Color Guard team as it would allow them to practice in the gym without having to lay down old carpet padding. It would also allow for various clubs and classes to use the gym for things like History Day and Science Fair.

Describe the Students

Our school has roughly 1200 students attending. With a wide range of abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are 13.5% African American, 11.9% Hispanic, 67.8% White, 1.9% Asian and 4.9% other. Of these students 41% are on free or reduced lunch. 22.8% of our students are ESE with 31.6% of them being students who have earned a 2 or less on their FSA exams.

Budget Narrative
