Goal

By the end of the school year, students will increase academic performance in Spanish.

What will be done with my students

102 Students of Spanish 1 will create a digital presentation incorporating authentic images and personal narrative to introduce family and friends and share information on their target culture family and activities. Their weekly schedule, when and how often they do leisure activities and chores. And typical school lunch in the target culture, hunger issues in the region, and a favorite sport or leisure activity.

56 Students of Spanish 2 will read blogs that incorporate recipes in the target language. They will demonstrate comprehension by answering questions in English or the target language. They will create a catalog for a store of the target culture including items, descriptions, and prices.
They will continue with their digital portfolio by adding information about their adopted cities. They will include authentic images showing important places to visit, activities to do during the different seasons/weather, and items needed for their destination.

The digital presentations of Spanish 1 and 2 will be shared in an electronic format for others to view. This presentation is designed to be an ongoing project that results in a digital portfolio providing evidence of student growth over the course of the year.

Benefits to my students

Students will have more technological support in the classroom, since so far we do not have enough computers to do the labs of Spanish class 1 and 2.

Students will be working with different websites like www.yabla.com, www.quizlet.com, www.studyspanish.com and others.

Students will be learning according to technological advances and standardized studies.

Students will be working their projects in each unit related to each quarter of study ( 4 in the year).

Describe the Students

I have 4 groups of Spanish 1 with 102 students, and 2 groups of Spanish 2 with 56 students.
In Spanish 1 I have 15 ESE and 13 in Spanish 2.

Most of my students have good performance in class. For now the average is 85.
Overall, the discipline is very good, usually they don't have referrals. They are advancing with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support program (PBIS).

They are practicing learning profile International Baccalaureate (IB) as a Candidate School for this program.

My students are mostly African Americans, their families do not have good economic conditions.
As a Title I School, Schoolwide Program is a comprehensive reform strategy designed to upgrade the entire educational program in a Title I school with 40 percent poverty or more. It allows the school to address the educational needs of all children so every student achieves high levels of academic proficiency.
