Goal

As a first year teacher, the goal is to buy more books for my students so they have options ranging in complexity.

What will be done with my students

These books will be available to the kiddos all year long, potentially being able to rotate the books throughout the year so there are "new" books for them to discover. I am hoping to buy more books that tie into the standards (Realistic fiction, informational, etc.) I would also love to buy class sets of books in order to do read alouds with each student having a copy of the book we are reading.

Benefits to my students

All students will benefit from having new books in our classroom library. New books keep students engaged and excited about reading. If we got read aloud books in class set sizes, students would be able to read along with a hard copy which can also help them stay focused.

Describe the Students

I have a class of 21 students ranging from low performers, English language learners, and gifted students.

Budget Narrative

I have included 4 new bookshelves that would be more functionable in our classroom, estimating to be around $400. I have also allotted $600 for miscellaneous classroom library books.
