What will be done with my students

1) Class Dojo Individual Scholar Reinforcement System
Points: Awarded by Teacher / Tracked by Teacher
Reinforcer: Awarded by Teacher
Implementation Steps:
• Teacher holds meeting with class to brainstorm what types of things scholars would like to earn that do not cost money. Teacher will provide acceptable examples to the scholars.
• Teacher will determine Dojo Point value for items, scholars have buy in to earn. Dojo points will be displayed periodically throughout the day to show scholars the points they have earned.
• Scholars may be allowed to spend points daily at the teacher store or scholars may use points at Dojo Store.
2) Dojo Store Individual Scholar Reinforcement System
Points: Awarded by Teacher or Staff / Tracked by Scholars
Reinforcer: Awarded by Teacher/Staff
Implementation Steps:
• All teachers will use Classroom Dojo as positive behavior system.
• Scholars will earn a point for each successful part of their day in the classroom: attendance, dress code, ELA(2), Math(2), transitions, specials, morning meeting, science. Scholars can earn 10 core points per day.
• Scholars have the opportunity to earn points above and beyond core points by ROARing through their day. Points may be awarded by teachers or staff anytime a scholar is exhibiting ROAR behaviors: Respectful, On Task, Always Safe, and Responsible.
• Scholars will be given the opportunity to use the points earned in their classroom OR at the Dojo Store.
• The Dojo store will be advertised on the school news, displayed in the Media Center, and order forms will be available in classrooms.
• Store items will change monthly. The only items that will not change every month are higher value items. Scholars have the opportunity to save up enough points to be able to purchase them.
5) Cafeteria Popsicle Party Whole Class Reinforcement System
Points: Dojo awarded by Paraprofessional or Teacher Monitoring Class at lunch Reinforcer: Awarded by Behavior Specialist on Friday
Implementation Steps:
• Each teacher will have a Dojo Monster created for their class.
• Paraprofessionals/Teachers supervising scholar lunches are tasked to award points to each class based upon our Café HABITS (guideline for expected behavior at lunch).
• Each class has the opportunity to earn at least 4 points per day: Eating at appropriate voice level, Remaining seated at the table appropriately, Hands and feet to self, Cleaning table at end of lunch.
• Additional points may be earned for going above and beyond. All classes have a goal of earning 80% or greater of points per week (16 or greater)
• Classes earning 80% of points per week will receive an incentive on Friday. Popsicles, stickers, class shout outs on the news, visits from Principal—incentives will vary from week to week.
7) Positive Dojo Point Celebration
Data: Monitored by MTSS/Behavior Specialist
Reinforcer: Provided by all faculty and staff
Implementation Steps:
• A calendar of rewards has been created to reward scholars for earning the highest Positive Dojo Points in a month.
• In an effort to allow all students to feel successful, the celebration schedule starts broad with school-wide rewards, then moves to highest in per grade level, and then finally to highest per classroom.
• Incentive for celebrations will be monthly: September: popsicles/Oct.-Bingo and 5th grade movie/ Nov- Cards for troops/ Dec- Movie/hot chocolate/ Jan- Tug of war/ February- Kickball/ March- Shamrock shakes/Snow cones/ April- Egg activity/ May- Dance

Benefits to my students

The teachers and staff at Lakewood Elementary believe having a Positive school wide behavior system not only leads to behavioral successes but also to the ultimate goal of academic success. Encouragement for positive behavior will decrease discipline referrals and ultimately increase instructional time. A positive school culture where scholars are rewarded consistently for exhibiting desired behaviors is a predictor for academic success and boosts students morale and overall school climate.
