Goal

To increase accessibility of technology within my classroom, to allow for equitable access for all students and to promote personalized learning.
*Note: Currently my students share a stationary computer lab in my school. We share with 65 + students from multiple grade levels. This limits our time and use of technology.

What will be done with my students

The kindles will be used to access standard based activities throughout daily instruction. For example when engaging in writing activities students will be able to access Spark notes, Nearpod, Quizlet, and CommonLit just name a few. This access will allow the students to have voice and choice, which provides for an individualized path to success. Being able to have a class set will keep all students engaged, by having one to one technology which allows for students to move away from the constraints of a rotational learning environment.

Benefits to my students

This is will be a tremendous benefits to all my students to have their own individualized learning tool at the finger tips. Gone are the days that everybody gets the same passages on the same subjects. The future is personalized learning that support standards. All students in my class are being taught skills and the ability to perform at the highest level of standards, but this should be done with highly engaging text at their level. This is almost impossible when you have four laptops that may or may not perform daily, shared between 19 students on any given day.

Describe the Students

My classroom consist of 38 fourth graders 90% free and reduced lunch.
Boys-18
Girls-20

Our ESE population is higher every year, finding it harder and harder to create lesson to keep engagement. Funding as been reduced at our schools by half ( Title 1 budget reduced by 72%).

Budget Narrative

These amounts are for a class of Kindle Fire 10, fully protected by a case and shatter proof glass. My district technology liaison assures me that this is the best price.
