Goal

We would like to incorporate flexible seating into our classroom. We would like to give students the opportunity to be able to choose their seat in the classroom. We would like to purchase one Gaiam Kids Balance Ball chair for each of our students.

What will be done with my students

Students will be able to choose if they wish to sit in a regular chair or pick another seat.

Benefits to my students

Studies have shown that some students need the ability to be able to move around. A regular student chair does not allow them to move. Often times students are sitting on their knees in their chairs or leaning back in them. The Balance ball chairs allow the students to slightly move around in the seat without getting hurt.

Describe the Students

We have students who have a difficult time sitting still. The chairs allow them to bounce and move around while remaining in their seat and also getting their school work done.
We have 7 students who are ESE and several students who are unable to concentrate due to the need to move around. The balance ball chairs help reduce distraction and increase concentration.

Budget Narrative

The money would be spent to purchase 40 Balance Ball Chairs for 2 different classrooms.
