Goal

Hi, my name is Paula Knauss. I have a terrific 5th grade family of ten year olds that need your help in having a 1-to-1 technology classroom using iPads. Please help me expose these children to more technology in the classroom; so they will be better skilled for the career market in the years to come.

What will be done with my students

My 5th grade will be using their iPads daily to create student portfolios on Class Dojo for their parents to view what they are learning each day. Further, my students need at least 45 minutes practice on iReady Reading and iReady Math to improve their reading and math skills that can be lacking by up to two classes below their grade level. We have 6 desktops in our classroom, but my class would all be able to have access for testing and practice on math and reading skills at the same time besides small group rotations. Lastly, my students would earn extra time on computer games that improve their learning performance and encourage wise behavior choices. Being in a Title 1 school means the students will need technology experience to compete with students with technology more readily exposed at home.

Benefits to my students

Our school scored a letter F for academic performance last year. It is time to improve this score with strong teaching, a structured classroom, and technology that encourages higher performance on computer-based testing with students continually being exposed to technology throughout the year on iPads that they can access throughout the day.

Describe the Students

Half of my class is ESE and the other half is performing at or below 5th grade level

I need to give at least my current 9 ESE students more opportunities to be on the iPads at various times through the day when they cannot access our 6 classroom desktop computers during their scheduled teacher-intergrated support times that other students do not have.
