My goal is to create students who are 21st century thinkers and learners, and prepared for the demands of middle, high school, and beyond while developing a love for the quest of knowledge. Currently, we have had in place for 5 years the Seminole Educational Ecosystem that consists of about 14 schools in our areas, and we collaborate a few times a year to see what is needed not only in our school, but beyond.I would love my students be able to use technology to enhance their curriculum. This will allow students to be able to not only complete work at school, but students will be able to access the same assignments at home. Assignments will be "pushed out" through Office 365. Here students will be able to see assignments and the teacher will be able to give feedback. Since technology is continuing to be such a crucial part of everyday lives, it seems only natural to begin students at a young age on their journey through technology. Students will also be producing an ePortfolio of their assignments.

Goal

What will be done with my students

I am planning on using the computers so that students will have their own computer to work on in a 1 to 1 model. I will be a self-contained classroom and will "push out" all of my lessons through OneNote/SharePoint, a component of Office365. My students will also be utilizing Office365, as well as other programs recommended through the district to have students reaching their highest learning potential. I would also love to incorporate some green screen technology for research projects, as well as microcredentialing digital badges for classroom accomplishments and goal setting celebrations. We will also be doing much of our independent reading using digital literacy programs.

Benefits to my students

My students will benefit with these computers by being able to do their classwork/homework online and be able to continue what they have started at school at home as well. In this model, I am hoping to see more student engagement, along with individualized and personalized learning.

Describe the Students

My class is made up of all different types of learners. At this time, I would consider my class, as a whole, average learners. Although, I do have strugglers as well and by utilizing technology will allow me to individualize the instruction for these students. I have been with this group of students for a 3 year loop. I started including technology with these students in 3rd grade and as I have seen so much growth in their learning and research skills. I would love the chance to continue this with another group of 5th grade students as well.
