Goal
Our goal is to incorporate the academics into real world skills of creating a garden and maintaining it to give our students a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment as they manage their garden.
What will be done with my students
My students will plan the garden by selecting the vegetables to plant and drawing a sketch of the beds. They will shop for the items needed in a catalog, using money skills. They will prepare the beds, plant the garden, maintain, water it, and harvest it, sharing their vegetables.
Benefits to my students
My students will benefit from the project by learning about the vegetables we plant, learning about the parts of plants and their life cycles. They will increase their self esteem and build their confidence.
Describe the Students
They are self-contained students with autism in grades kindergarten and grade one. They are a mix of low and high performers. They are a mix of verbal and nonverbal students who use communication devices.

The budget includes all of the items needed to create an above the ground garden including beds, soil, seeds and all that would be necessary to create and maintain a garden.
