Goal

Hospital Homebound's mission is to provide quality education that supports effective individualized learning opportunities for all students in order to meet their unique learning needs and increase student success.

A homebound or hospitalized student is a student who has a medically diagnosed physical or psychiatric condition which is acute or catastrophic in nature, or a chronic illness, or a repeated intermittent illness due to a persisting medical problem and that confines the student to home and/or hospital and restricts activities for an extended period of time. What will be done with my students

It is the Hospital Homebound's vision to have 100% student success. In order to achieve this our teachers need to be equipped with the tools and resources to make lessons engaging for our most vulnerable students who have a vast spectrum of needs. Our teachers are asking for a News2You differentiated literacy subscription, color printer ink supplies, and lamination sleeves to be able to make high level engagement activities for our students that have varying disabilities such as, vision impairments, hearing impairments, medically fragile, intellectual disabilities, autism, and many other areas. Software programs such as News2You make differentiated hard copy materials accessible, but color printer ink and laminator sleeves make creating those resources possible for students to actively engage and interact with the curriculum.

Benefits to my students

Students in Hospital Homebound will be able to access all subject area curriculum with the resources and tools provided. Teachers can create colored and laminated hard copy instructional materials necessary for engaging and maintaining student interaction and student sensory needs. These would be otherwise impossible without access to essential tools and resources. These resources also allow teachers to effectively assess and monitor student data.

Describe the Students

A homebound or hospitalized student is a student who has a medically diagnosed physical or psychiatric condition which is acute or catastrophic in nature, or a chronic illness, or a repeated intermittent illness due to a persisting medical problem and that confines the student to home or hospital and restricts activities for an extended period of time.

Hospital Homebound is an area of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) eligibility that is determined by an Individual Education Plan (IEP) Team based on multiple sources of data. Students have a vast spectrum of disabilities and needs, such as vision impairment, hearing impairment, medically fragile, physical needs and limitations (wheelchair), autism, cognitive limitations, and giftedness. Our educators are continuously looking for ways to maintain student engagement. This often includes overcoming challenges and hurdles that our special needs students often have, while also supporting and meeting students right where they are.

Budget Narrative

Hospital Homebound teachers are not afforded a budget that supports students' learning needs that require the creation and maintaining of necessary resources directly related to student curriculum. We are in need of a yearly News2You subscription for student literacy needs, lamination sleeves and colored ink for creating and maintaining colorful and interactive curriculum for our special needs students.
