Goal

My goal is to create an outdoor classroom to increase engagement. Students will use the outdoor space for reading, stem challenges, writing, and math essentially our day could be spent outside and reach all of our standards.  

 

What will be done with my students

Learning centers would be established in the beautiful courtyard outside of our classroom.
*Yoga mats would provide students the opportunity to lay or sit while completing work. Students would easily be able to collaboratively work together or chose to be independent. *Lap desks and art trays allow students to keep their materials out of the dirt and manage their materials.
* the mud kitchen- provides opportunities for creative exploration, problem-solving, and social-skill development.
* the deck boxes are too store our materials safely out of the elements 

 

Benefits to my students

Research has shown that learning outdoors can increase test scores, improve student behavior, create a benevolent attitude towards school. Students who participate in outdoor classrooms also have better attendance rates. I personally expect to see student more engaged, and happily participating in learning in all subject areas.

 

 

Describe the Students

Our classroom is in a title 1 school in which all students receive Free lunch. I also have several ESE students.  

 

Budget Narrative

The supplies in this grant will allow us to improve our engagement through the use of hands-on learning in a beautiful outdoor classroom.
