To provide my Gifted scholars with flexible seating that will allow them to move in place while completing tasks.
My scholars will have the choice to choose what type of seating they want to utilize in order to best learn. Sometimes that seating changes from week to week. I already have a few stability balls and I've seen a tremendous difference in their behavior and learning when using flexible seating. These additional stability balls will allow everyone at both of my schools to be able to have a flexible place to sit.
Flexible seating has been shown to keep scholars more engaged, especially ones that have a hard time sitting still. They can move and bounce without disrupting others and provides them the sensory movement they need. We have extended day at both schools and my scholars are expected to sit for long periods of time. By providing them different places to sit and different types of seating, I'm able to meet their individual needs better.
I teach Gifted scholars at two Transformation Zone schools, both of which are located in low socioeconomic neighborhoods. All my scholars receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of them also take home bags of food for the weekend.
The funds will be used to buy 10 kids balance ball chairs and 5 balance balls.
