The goal of the Fishing Club is to mentor students through fishing and teach all members a skill that they can use for a lifetime. Building relationships with students in need in order to be able to motivate these students to focus on academics.
I would love to be able to take my club fishing once a month at different places to teach the students how to fish from different areas. The students learn how to throw a cast net; which lures to use; all different knots essential to fishing; all rules and regulations of fishing; and how to make fishing a fun experience. The club also meets bi-weekly to monitor grades and discuss fishing trips..
The students:
1 Learn a lifetime skill that they can use forever
2 Receive mentoring from outstanding role-models
3 Improve grades and behavior through mentoring
The Fishing Club is for all students and especially students that need mentoring and positive role-models. It is the only club that does not require an academic or behavioral requirement.
I normally between 10-12 teachers and 2 AP’s on each trip. The relationships we build through fishing enable us to motivate and encourage students to focus on academics.
I am hoping to receive 1000 dollars in order to provide a great experience for the club members to go on an outing once a month.
Thank you so much for your consideration for our club.
