To accurately identify students with language and literacy impairments by administering a comprehensive assessment that has the best psychometric specificity and sensitivity of any assessment on the market.
Students with suspected Language impairments will be assessed using the Test of Integrated Language & Literacy Skills (TILLS), which will provide a broad range of information allowing therapists to accurately identify students with language disorders and address deficits. The TILLS can also help the multidisciplinary team distinguish between Language and Learning disabilities, which are often difficult to separate.
The TILLS is comprised of 15 different subtests that will allow the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to look at language and literacy skills from the sound/word level to sentence/conversation levels in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This will provide information to the team for eligibility determination and help guide service providers in what specific areas to target.
Students that are performing below grade-level and not responding to general education interventions may require specially designed instruction to improve and make gains. Before services can be provided (through an IEP), the evaluation team must evaluate the student and determine eligibility.
The TILLS testing kit includes everything needed to initiate testing. The TILLS is currently the gold standard for educational language assessments because of it's high specificity and sensitivity, which means low probability of incorrect identification of disability.
