Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Anonymous - $975.00
The Goal of my Grant Project is to create a Sphero Station as part of our afterschool STEM program.
Students at Westgate Elementary will have the opportunity to choose different robotics and technology activities as part of an afterschool enrichment program. The Sphero Bolt has both a programming aspect and plug n play option to engage students and help them learn coding skills at an early age.
This Grant would help fund an ongoing integrated afterschool program and would not be a one-time, one-use
Our students will benefit from the ability to explore different types of programming and robotics activities that are all based on the same scratch-based drop and drag interface. Some students at Westgate Elementary have already been exposed to programming in 2nd Grade with LEGO Education and then build on that with the Dash robot in 3rd grade. This program will continue to build their programming skills in 4th and 5th grade.
Our student population is diverse. We are a Title 1 School where the majority of our population qualifies for free and reduced lunch. Our school offers after-school enrichment free of charge to our students, because they may be unable to find these opportunities in their community due to cost or transportation.
The plan for the Project is to purchase (5) Sphero Bolt robots so 10 students in pairs of (2) could rotate in teams through the station and take part in both operating the robot maze and programming the code
