Goal

To increase the range of reading topics for my AICE General Papers students in order to prepare them for the Cambridge tests.

What will be done with my students

Students will read Up Front magazine in order to learn about high interest topics and get a look at a large range of information from across the globe. They will read the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind in order to learn about issue in other countries, students making an impact on their community, and perseverance and engineering.

Benefits to my students

Students need a wide range of knowledge in order to do well on the test and to build their critical thinking skills. Having access to a variety of reading sources will increase the amount of knowledge and exposure to world issues. This will impact them not only in my class, but in their future endeavors and educational pursuits.

Describe the Students

My students come from all backgrounds, ESE, ELL, and 504. They are both struggling readers and high honors students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Budget Narrative

Up front magazine subscription for 37 students at $9.99 each is $406.59. The Boy Who Harnessed the wind class set for 35 students at $8 each is $280.
