Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Raymond James - $550.00
Using the garden we have started , learn about life cycles. We explore the plant life cycles and how it contrasts and compares to other life cycles.
We also use our garden to promote healthy life styles, which increases learning capacity, especially in young brains.
The students will be involved in all steps from exploring different types of seeds, planting, taking care of the garden. They will learn about and explore what happens to our bodies when we eat healthy, and contrasted to how "junk" food affects our bodies, our minds and our growth rate.
The garden also contains butterfly plants to encourage butterflies to lay their eggs, allowing the children to explore the butterfly Life cycle.
We will also be using the garden to explore Life Cycles of plants, comparing and contrasting them to other Life cycles.
Children will be using S.T.E.M to explore the natural world through hands on experiences within and out of the classroom. They will become more aware of their own bodies, and how to take care of them. They will learn to work in groups by being involved in taking care of a community garden, and being responsible for maintaining living plants and animals.
I have a class of 20 students, ages 4 to 5. My class is made up of 14 General education students as well as 6 ESE students (ASD, Language Delayed, Emotional Delayed, Ortho Impaired, etc). We are a mix of all races and genders, and are differences make us GREAT!! :)
There are 4 other classes with similar make ups, and they will be involved with the garden as well.
I will be working with Lowes in our area to help us maintain the garden
