Goal
To provide comfortable and flexible seating options for my classroom.
What will be done with my students
This project will have long lasting effects. My vision is to have a room with couches, comfy chairs, bean bags, and floor seating options. I want the environment to be warm, welcoming, and calming for my students. I will be able to impact students in my room for years to come.
Benefits to my students
Many options for seating will help with better engagement and increase learning experience. Primary aged kids have short attention spans and need constant movement. Having more options to move different lessons/small groups will get them up and moving all day. Adults don't want to sit in hard still chairs, so why should kids have to?
Classrooms in today's world are aimed to be student centered. This will give them the autonomy to choose where they can learn and thrive the best.
Describe the Students
My scholars are all part of today's inclusive classrooms. They are made up of high and low performers, ELLs, many with 504 plans and or IEP's. The school's demographics are approx. 95% minority. The entire population receives free/reduced lunch. And a high amount of scholars are in foster care or considered homeless.
