Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
The Sembler Company - $2,500.00
To introduce students and parents to our school family. Providing students with confidence to navigate kindergarten and parents with the tools to support their child.
Students and parents will be introduced to our school. Students will be familiarized with the school campus, learn basic school processes and procedures that support our school positive behavior support plan, and be assessed to allow individualized educational plans that best serve each student. Parents will be introduced to our school, expectations, and supports for making Sexton Elementary part of their family and supporting their child's progress at school.
Students will be familiar with the kindergarten teachers, administrators, and school campus. Teachers will have time to get to know their students and prepare educational opportunities that not only meet their individual student's educational needs but include their interest and any supports they may need. Students will learn to work cooperatively, navigate their school day successfully, and feel more confident in their ability to be part of their school.
John M. Sexton Elementary is a Title 1 school within the city of St. Petersburg. They have a vast range of students including middle income families, families living at or below the poverty line, varied language learners and cultures (Spanish, Russian, Korean, and Vietnamese), along with blended special education student services and supported special education services classrooms.
The majority of the funds will be used to pay classroom teachers for a one-week camp that will total 20 hours. The teachers have volunteered their time during the school year and summer to prepare for the camp.
