Goal

My goal is to teach my students financial literacy concepts through a token economy system in our classroom. Students will both earn money, as well as pay fees and fines based on their wants, needs, rewards, and consequences.

What will be done with my students

My students will learn coin and dollar values in order to better understand how to acquire, spend, and save money

Benefits to my students

While students do learn coin and dollar values in school, skills on how to utilize money, and how to relate money concepts to the real world are things that we do not spend enough time teaching young students. If students start learning financial concepts earlier in life, they will be better prepared to handle money later in their lives when they get jobs and have their own money to spend. Teaching financial literacy in school will benefit our future society!

Describe the Students

My classroom consists of a wide range of diverse learners including exceptional students (ESE), students who speak English as a second language (ELL), as well as students with gifted EPs
