To begin a Combat Robotics club at Madeira Beach MS where students can learn the potential for excitement with math, science and engineering.
The students will learn about Combat Robotics. They will build their own team bot. The will battle rival teams in the club and then have to troubleshoot and repair their bots prior to future battles. They will then be given the chance to evaluate their robots performance and consider modifications based on the extra pieces of their bot kit. This will eventually lead into the potential for designing their own bots and modifications and applying those to battle.
The students will learn the real world application of math, science and engineering. They will also learn to work in teams and troubleshoot problems and then fix them. They will learn electrical concepts like voltage and capacity. They will have the opportunity to apply logic to their builds and receive feedback about those changes based on success in battle. They will not just learn concepts but will need to develop physical skills in using tools to build and repair robots. They will also begin to explore design and engineering programs and tinker with creative designs of their own. Most importantly they will make a connection between education and fun!
Anyone in our school will be eligible to be in the club. So, it has the potential to serve any student.
This budget has been established by working with Scott Siegel from Turnabot LLC. It will provide a solid starting core for a Combat Robotics Club. It will allow us what we need to build and begin fighting and also to repair and continue to fight. Thank you for your consideration.
