Goal

The goal is to provide all scholars at Lakewood an opportunity to create a build items with Legos and a 3D Printer.

What will be done with my students

One Lego Wall will be installed in the science lab and the other Lego wall will be installed in the media center. Lakewood's scholars can benefit from using the Legos to build and create buildings with a partner or team member. The scholars can use these Lego walls to do mathematic problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems). The 3-D printer will be installed in a general area for all teachers and scholars to use. The scholars will create objects in class and print these objects with the 3D printer.

Benefits to my students

The benefits of the Lego wall will create future engineers and architectures. Lakewood's scholars will be able to use their imaginations to create future buildings. They will use the Lego walls to learn numbers (make numbers); skip counting; number line; place value practice; subtraction; compare numbers; multiplication arrays; multiplication; story problems, division; bar graphs; fractions; area and perimeter; and polygons. The Lego wall can be used as a sensory wall for all of Lakewood scholars. The benefits of the 3D printer to Lakewood's scholars will be they will be able to create an object and print it.

Describe the Students

The scholars at Lakewood Elementary School are mainly low performing scholars that learn best with hands-on activities. The school is a TZ Title 1 school. Many of the scholars that will be using the Lego wall in 5th grade are ESE scholars. At Lakewood Elementary School, we have a very high population of foster children that can benefit from working together when using the 3D printer and Lego Walls.
