Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
PAVA - Professional Association of Visual Artists - $914.94
My goal is to have our students engage in environmental learning, combining both art and science. I would like to transform an unused outdoor space into an art garden where students can create environmental art. This area will host nature looms, easels, a new mural and spaces for garden boxes.
Students will learn about environmental art and artists and how art and science can be combined. Students will be engaging in planting gardens that can cohabitate with their artwork. Students will also be able to collaborate with each other and other classes to create a mural and painted rock gardens.
The benefits to my students will be interacting with nature and learning how we can use art and science to create awareness and protect our environment. Students are usually outside for Physical Education and Recess but it is rare that they get any time to engage in an outdoor setting. My students will also learn how to respect others artwork in a public setting and collaborate with one another.
We have a wide range of students at Sutherland. We have ESE, ESOL students and high performing/gifted students. This would greatly impact the learning of all students and create a more well rounded education.
Two outdoor easels, three planter boxes for gardening, one tarp for shade for students and exterior paint for new mural.
