Goal

As a new teacher to Pinellas County I am excited about the opportunity to engage and motivate my students with incentives, supplies, and (most importantly) BOOKS!

What will be done with my students

As a literacy champion, I know that the key to improving reading is to have kids read the books that THEY want to read. I would like to be able to order them books of their choice so that they will be motivated to improve their literacy skills.

I also want my kids to be able to take notes and express themselves through writing. In order to do that, they will need pencils and notebooks.

Kids need extrinsic motivation to work hard. I'd like to be able to provide them with incentives (prizes, gift cards) to help them structure a goal and work hard to attain it.

I'd like to be able to decorate my room in such a way that my classroom is a friendly and inviting space for kids.

Finally, kids should never have to be deprived of an ideal education because they lack basic materials like paper, pencils, colored pencils, and markers.

Benefits to my students

If I am able to provide books to all of my kids that they are excited to read, their reading abilities are bound to improve. With the supplies mentioned above, they will never have to be deprived of opportunities to have fun and engaging classroom experiences.

Describe the Students

As a Title 1 school, most of my kids come from low-income households. They are a mix of low and high performers, some of which is due to their socio-economic status.

Unlike other areas, our families are burdened by meeting basic needs for their children. I do not want my families to be unable to provide our kids with items that are essential to their education.

Budget Narrative

Hello,

I am a new teacher to Pinellas County who just attended the Embrace Pinellas conference. It was inspiring to see how hard my colleagues and the district have worked to provide our kids with a solid foundation for learning. I'd like to be able to do my part to contribute.

Too many kids are deprived of receiving an optimal education because they lack basic materials that are instrumental to their success. With the materials I am requesting, I can go a long way towards bridging that gap.

I would be grateful for any funds you can provide me. Thank you so much for your time and consideration of my request.

Erick Zeidenberg
