Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 600

This grant allowed my Management class to create all marketing materials and preparation for our 2019-2020 capstone evening.  My students worked with all the program teachers to see what they would need to set up their student's presentations to make this years capstone look more like a tradeshow.  My students learned about managing building space, managing set up of a conference, managing print deadlines as well as managing time.

Unfotunately the Covid-19 hit before we had a chance to actullay have our capstone evening.  Needless to say my students were very disappointed, but we will be ahead of the game for next year.

This impacted all the students in our school as my managers had to talk to all the students so they knew what their needs were as well as what the teachers needs were.

We did not get any pictures of the capstone, but I have included the invitation and program the students designed.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Students will understand cost analysis, purchasing, inventory and multiple financial factors to run a Capstone/Trade Show business. Students will learn how to manage a capstone/trade show.

What will be done with my students

Students will create a budget for the capstone/trade show.
They will research costs of materials needed for the show as well as costs for promotional materials. Students will have to maintain a running spreadsheet on expenses and make decisions based on their financial reports. Students will issue purchase orders for the materials needed and take inventory of the stock when it arrives. Students will manage all aspects of the Capstone/Trade Show from setup to breakdown.

Benefits to my students

Students will benefit by obtaining financial literacy through costing, purchasing, maintaining inventory, maintaining a budget spreadsheet and financial reports. Students will learn how a capstone/trade show is run, managed and cost of financing. This project will give them real world knowledge in management.

Describe the Students

Students are Sophomores and Juniors. I have ESE students as well as gifted students in my class. I have several minorities and lower income students in my class as well.

Budget Narrative

We will use the supplies for the capstone/trade show to make it look professional. By ordering these supplies we will be able to sustain the project for many years to come. The Poster paper will be used for signage to add to the professionalism of the capstone/trade show.
