Original Grant Overview

Goal

We are hoping to infuse life back into our PE Program. New equipment is imperative in engaging our students and helping to ignite a passion for a healthy lifestyle.

What will be done with my students

We hope to replace our dying equipment and bring some life to our presentation of our PE curriculum. We need quality equipment that would be utilized for young learners to be highly active. We need various types of balls, bean bags, parachutes, hula hoops, jump ropes, games, sound capabilities and other manipulative as our ammunition to battle the obesity epidemic.

Benefits to my students

We will breathe new life into our PE Program by increasing the variety of activities we can offer our students. New equipment to engage students in relevant and exciting activities that will increase their minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity. By increasing their active minutes and encouraging them to pursue lifelong physical activities, we will decrease obesity. These outcomes will effect 556 students ages 3 to 11 in PreK through 5th grades this school year, and countless others in years to come.

Describe the Students

We are a Title I school with a high number of children from low income families. We have PreK through 5th grade represented at our school. We do have ESE students classified as Supported Varying Exceptionalities who require extensive support in daily activities.
