Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 350

This area has been a BIG hit with our students. Whether they earned some 'Fun" time or they need some "down" time, they love the opportunity they have coming to the lego wall.

I created a build it wheel for those students that know they may need some time in the lego area and can't decide on what to build. This will also help students in making quick decisions on what to build because they are only alloted about 15 mintues for this area. So they do not miss too much instruction time.

Thank you so much for your generosity. The students are very excited about the wall and they love it.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

We would like to create a Lego wall in our library for student use.

What will be done with my students

We have a fantastic space in our library for makers space, we would like to expand it and have a creative Lego wall. Students will be allowed to build on the Lego wall alone or with a partner/group.
This will allow them to have sometime to express themselves creatively during the day.
This will also help students with working in cooperative groups.

Benefits to my students

We have seen other schools and students benefit from the lego wall. This will help them work creatively alone or with partners in building anything they choose.
This will extend student creativity and also increase student small motor skills.

Describe the Students

Students at Sandy Lane Elementary are at 100% free lunch and dinner.
Students need to have the opportunity to communicate with each other appropriately. By offering this guided experience we will give students the opportunity to speak to each other with respect.
Also, this experience will allow students to build side by side and help each other if needed. Giving them the opportunity to work collaboratively.

Budget Narrative

The monies will be used to purchase the materials necessary for students to have a Lego wall at school that can be used over and over again. Materials will be purchased from Amazon and Office Depot/Staples.
